Travel Wish List: Turin, Italy
Raise your hand if you love Nutella. How about vermouth? Slow food? Your espresso machine? Do you know what they all have in common? They were born in Turin - Piedmont's capital and a city rich in cultural and architectural treasures.
For the last seven years, Lucia Hanau has been hosting Turin Epicurean, a gastronomic festival that attracts food and wine bloggers, journalists, designers, wine producers, artisans, and travel experts. This week I was supposed to join Lucia and other Italian aficionados in beautiful Turin, to explore the city and get a literal taste of what this region has to offer.
Like many other events, Turin Epicurean 2020 was canceled and had to be moved online. I joined Lucia yesterday for an Instagram live chat, where we talked, among many other things, about what makes a good Italian olive oil, how to bake a great focaccia, and where to find Brachetto, the wine that Marcus Antonius used to seduce Cleopatra (not passing judgement but I suspect the act would be severely condemned today).
